Castelnau Underground
Line Overview
Operator(s) Matt Transit
Line Length ?
Runs Through Castelnau Le Lez

The line officially started construction on the 23/5/17 to link up the Soho area of Castelnau and the mainline station, the mountainous terrain of the area made it unsuited for a tram line so a metro/subway was chosen instead. The section between Maguelones and Soho Park opened on the 25th of May 2017. The remaining section opened the next day. The inauguration is planned on the 27th.

On the 29th of June 2017 the first phase of the Seaside Extension opened between Maguelones and Paillade Nord, the new station and the new platform at Maguelones feature platform screen doors. On the 30th of June 2017 Beach station opened for passenger service. On the 15th of July 2017 the last station planned in the short term for the extension opened.

From the 17th of July 2017, through service started with the HRailways Hyeres Line enabling trains from Lez Riverside to run to Hyeres and vice versa.

On the 31/10/17 the fill in station along the line opened as Castelnau Arena station.

In March 2020, Castelnau Underground tunnels were renovated, with curves and gradients redone. The first section to receive this was Paillade Nord to Maguelones.
