The second General Election of WolvHaven was held from 29 June to 2 July 2017 to form the House of Representatives (HOR) of the 7th Parliament of WolvHaven.

New Election Rules

As the previous election results saw votes divided across multiple parties resulting in a third of the seats being left vacant, new rules were introduced in order to prevent these vacancies from happening again.

The major changes include rounding up of the number of seats and a new 5% threshold. Previously, if 10% of the vote meant 2.3 seats for example, the party would only be awarded 2 seats. Under the new system, the number of seats will always be rounded up. This means if 10% of the vote meant 2.3 seats, the party would be awarded 3 instead of 2 seats.

However, under the new round up rule, this meant that any party with at least 1 vote would be awarded a seat. To counter this, a 5% threshold was introduced. This means that any party with at least 5% of the popular vote would be guaranteed a seat.

Another change to the system was the introduction of overhang seats. These are elected seats that are added should the existing 12 seats be insufficient. For example, there are 15 people who qualify to gain elected MP status. However, there are only 12 seats available. An additional 3 elected seats will be added in order to fit everybody.

New Records

The July 2017 General Election of WolvHaven achieved a new voter turnout record in WolvHaven Election History with a total of 67 votes cast. This was at least double the amount of votes counted in the previous General Election, which only had vote count of 29.

As a result of this amount of votes, all party leaders were nervous or anxious as they could not depend as much on their own party members voting for them, meaning they would also have to appeal to a majority of the Citizens of WolvHaven in order to win the election.
