The WolvHaven Metro Line 8 is an automatic metro line that runs along Westford Island and Mechanicsburg as a supplemental express service for Metro Line 6.

History (2015-Present)

Proposal and Original Route (2015-2016)

In August of 2015, it was proposed that an express line should run along side the new interborough line, line 6. The proposed route would originally run between the new growing Bella Vista district and Primerose and have only three stops, all of which were in Westford: Bella Vista, Little Italy, and Primerose; skipping Chinatown and Hunter (Now known as Rochester). In November 2015 it was confirmed that Line 8 would run from Bella Vista to Esplanade along the two center express tracks installed along the interborough line following the original planned route, and in January of 2016 the line opened and began service between Esplanade and Bella Vista.

Terminus Change (2016-2017)

Line 8 service to Bella Vista was unpopular as the route missed some commonly used stations (e.g. City Hall, Waterloo). In April of 2016, the Bella Vista Shuttle was introduced, which provided provided service between City Hall and Bella Vista, stopping at Waterloo. This made line 8 more accessible; however, an unnecessary transfer was present. Therefore, in March 2017, the southern terminus of line 8 became City Hall, making the line stop at both Waterloo and City Hall (Line 6 was then made manual due to this change).

Mechanicsburg Extension (Phase 1, 2016-April 2017)

In June of 2016, there was a proposed extension of lines 6 and 8 to the new island of Mechanicsburg. This extension involved the creation of three stations: Stadium, Mechanicsburg, and Hillview. Mechanicsburg was the only express station planned in this phase. After a year of planning and construction, phase 1 of the Mechanicsburg extension opened in April of 2017. Line 6 service was extended full-time to Hillview, and line 8 service was extended to Mechanicsburg. However, due to the lines 6 and 8 depot being located at the tail tracks after Hillview, line 8 service became unofficially extended to Hillview, a local station, and became local between Esplanade and Hillview.

York Extension and Present Route (October 2017-Present)

In October of 2017, Ftrans and TemaQix Holdings released an ad showing the closure of lines 6 and 8 for the beginning of work for the York extension, or phase 2 of the Mechanicsburg extension. This extension involved the creation of Bohill and York stations. First, the lines 6 and 8 depot east of York opened on December 2nd, 2017, and line 8 service became express between Esplanade and Mechanicsburg and was shortened from Hillview. A week later, Line 8 was extended all the way to York station, running fully express throughout its entire route, which is now the current route. The current route runs through the Trans-Island Tube, then running express along with line 6 for the rest of its route. It currently stops at the following stations:
